Rise Up!

Sometimes you have to coach yourself.

In the gym last week the circuit included planks.

Long planks. Timed planks. Every single day planks.

So, can you relate…?

I’m a little bit competitive, and we were planking for points.

I work out with my husband and was trying to impress (beat) him.

My body is 60 years old and everyone else was somewhere between 25 - 50.

Seriously though, I was not about to give up or collapse, so I had to coach myself hard in those moments.

So I enthusiastically encouraged myself (in my head).

  • Kim: You can do this.

  • Arms: Stay strong and stay straight, we’re almost there.

  • Core: Tighten up! You’re where the strength is coming from.

  • Lungs: We need more air.

  • Body: We are fully capable of doing this. We’re shaking, but we can do this while shaking.

I was coaching myself.

Although having a mentor and/or a coach is extremely important, you can be your own coach or mentor at times! Certainly you can in an emergency, but also when it’s not an emergency. What if it’s day-to-day stuff and you can’t get motivated? What if you feel stuck in a rut and can’t get out? How does being resilient apply to these situations? This is when you call on your primal knowledge, a positive mindset and the wisdom that others have taught you! Remember in the Bible what Paul (a mentor) said in his letter to Timothy (a mentee). Paul coached and reminded Timothy that his spirit was not fearful and timid, but that he has a spirit of POWER, LOVE and SELF-CONTROL!

We are called to be steady women in this unsteady world. We don’t have to go it alone, but there will be times that we have to rise up on our own strength: mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. And we have what it takes. YOU have what it takes. Find those treasures that are already inside of you and coach yourself! Let’s go!!! The treasure that was inside of Timothy is the same treasure that is inside of you. It’s POWER, LOVE and SELF-CONTROL! It’s the Holy Spirit of God living in you. He is the treasure within.
